Local SEO - How to get the most out of local search results

Local SEO has a strategy all to itself. You have to use keywords that describe your product or service, and keywords that describe you geographic location.

Starting tight and expanding as your site builds authority is the key to success. Start optimizing for your county, then city, then State by using geo specific keywords and inbound links.

I specialize in Delaware SEO and San Diego SEO.

Most of the time you don't want to limit yourself to just a small area, but you know you need to start small. Blog post are great for this as you can use geotargeting keywords without fear of using them on your product or service page. Example: write a blog about your county or city, while your product or service page targets the State keywords.

The best place to start, is to see if you are listed on Yelp, Yellow Pages, Super Pages and Google Places. If not, get listed on them. Then reach out within your community and see where you can obtain links to your site. When Google sees other local companies linking to your company, that reinforces where you do business. These can be local bulletin boards, blogs, other business sites, and news or reference sites.

Advertise for the local baseball team and get them to put a link to your site. Schools, organizations, and local non-profit sites are great ways to gain local links. You might have to advertise, or sponsor a listing, but it's supporting a good local cause.

I have worked with many companies targeting county, city and State, and I can help you rank in your business area also.
