We try to be creative within our content to get people to link over to us. This can be tedious as you still have to get the content out in the wild to get noticed in the first place. But here is an idea.
Why not just on the keyword bandwagon and use keywords that are already in use and very popular?
For example, for this custom wedding cake company that I am shopping ideas around with; I suggested that she use Delaware's Cake Boss as a tag line and generate some hype on her page with regards to this.
Cakes by Kim is located in Delaware and Carlo's Backer is in New Jersey. Both serving the same client demographic. So why not have Cakes by Kim also show up on a Cake Boss search?
I would not suggest stealing someone else's slogan or tagging your site with something irrelevant to you, but in many cases there should be some already well known keywords in your industry that you can play off of.
Watching tv shows and reading magazines within your industry will give you the keywords, or buzzwords, people are using currently, which in turn means those viewers or readers are using them as search terms.
I would love any feedback to anyone using this practice.
